Position Title Nutritionist
Department Clinical
Immediate Supervisor Hospital Director / Hospital Operations Manager
ROLE SUMMARY
The Nutritionist is responsible for delivering high quality and efficient medical care and ensuring that ultimately quality patient care is provided to patients and clients.They will be responsible for assessing the patient's health needs and diet, offering counselling on nutritional issues and developing meal plans.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Health service delivery
1. Provide Nutrition Health education.
2. Counselling patients and filling of diet sheet.
3. Monitor and evaluate the implementation of nutrition plans.
4. Monitor and promote growth of children.
Leadership, compliance and governance
1. Comply to national guidelines as well as organisation policies.
2. Participate in individual performance appraisal as per departmental objective.
3. Participate in monthly departmental meetings.
4. Participate in Implementation of Clinical department annual work plan.
Health supplies and technology
1. Comply to an automated order system of supplies for the department.
2. Ensure and maintain proper inventory tracking in the department.
Health financing
1. Ensure all patient services undertaken are billed in accordance with appropriate protocols.
2. Set individual financial targets along clinical revenue lines.
Health information
1. Collect nutrition and dietetics data from patients.
2. Disseminate nutrition information, education, promotion and communication materials.
Health workforce
1. Participate in individual performance evaluation.
2. Participate in internal and external Continuous Medical Examination (CME) programs.
3. Participate in individual objectives formulation to the Hospital Strategic plan.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education:
● Diploma in Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition or Nutrition and Dietetics or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
● Registration by the Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute.
● Valid Practising Certificate.
Experience:
● At least 1 year practical attachment in a KNDI accredited institution.
