Position Title Accountant
Department Finance
Immediate Supervisor Hospital Director
ROLE SUMMARY
The Accountant will provide financial decision-making information by collecting, analysing, investigating, and reporting financial data. The role is in charge of Project Management accounts, Cost control, Cash flow Management, Budgeting, and Financial Reports preparation.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting;
1. Prepare all the books of accounts for the company concerning revenue and expenditures promptly.
2. Update the fixed asset register.
3. Prepare disposal schedule for verification.
4. Post monthly depreciation and disposals.
5. Review fixed asset registers.
6. Process journal entries into the accounting system.
7. Advise the hospital Director on a timely manner on any anticipated risks and the required mitigating factors.
8. Prepare draft accounts.
9. Prepare monthly banks reconciliation to ensure completeness of cash flow.
10. Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
11. Ensure month-end closure reconciliations are completed within the first five days of the following month including bank reconciliations, stock reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and reconciliations of all accrual, prepayments, and deferred accounts.
12. Prepare and submit accurate and complete monthly management accounts.
13. Assist with annual audit preparations.
14. Assist with preparing and monitoring budgets.
15. Maintain an effective petty cash system.
16. Quarterly verification of Assets and communicating with vendors for repairs of those under warranty.
17. Process locum and consultants Payments within the agreed timelines.
Statutory Compliance
1. Review and file monthly PAYE, NSSF, VAT and Withholding tax returns
Financial reporting;
1. Prepare the management account monthly and discuss the same with the Hospital Director.
2. Prepare annual, quarterly and monthly projections and share the same with the hospital director.
3. Prepare annual financial reports.
4. Prepare cash flow budget and monitor progress vis a vis the established budget.
Internal controls:
1. Ensure that proper policies and accounting procedures are applied consistently following International Financial reporting standards.
Cost accounting;
1. Ensure that costs are always controlled, and resources are efficiently applied under budgets and forecasts across the entire organisation.
Banking relations;
1. Ensure Daily Banking is done and verifying the banking slips.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education:
● University degree (BSC or equivalent) in nursing OR Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN) diploma Or Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN) diploma.
● Certificate in Basic Life Support.
● Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is an added advantage.
● Must have a valid nursing practising licence.
Experience:
● Minimum of two years’ experience in nursing or related field.
● Experience in emergency medical services will be an added advantage.
